Ibiza airport to your hotel: bus, taxi and transfers
Ibiza airport bus: five routes leave the terminal. AERO1 goes to San Antonio, AERO2 and AERO3 to Ibiza Town, AERO4 to Santa Eulalia and Es Canar, and AERO5 to Playa d'en Bossa and Figueretes. Fares are €3.50 to €4 paying by card. A taxi to Ibiza Town costs roughly €17-22.
You've just landed, grabbed your case and stepped out onto the pavement into a wall of heat. From here you have three choices: the bus, a taxi or a car (hire car, pre-booked transfer or someone picking you up). This guide tells you which one makes sense for where you're heading and what time you arrive, using the 2026 season timetables published by the operator.
Ibiza Airport (code IBZ) sits in the south of the island, in the municipality of Sant Josep, about 7 km from Ibiza Town. Almost everywhere is under 45 minutes away by car; what stretches journeys out is August traffic and buses winding through every resort on the way. If you haven't picked an area yet, our guide to where to stay in Ibiza shows which ones have the easiest airport connections.
Ibiza airport bus: the five routes in 2026
Since April 2026 the airport buses have been called AERO and numbered 1 to 5. They replace the old L9, L10 and L10E, which you'll still see quoted on plenty of blogs and forums. The table below sums up the summer timetable, from 1 May to 30 September (AERO3 and AERO5 keep it until 15 October). Times are departures from the airport.
| Destination | Route | Summer frequency | First and last bus from the airport | Approx. journey | Fare by card / cash |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| San Antonio (Sant Antoni), via Sant Josep | AERO1 | Every 30 min | 7:00 and 1:30 | 50 min | €4.00 / €5.60 |
| Ibiza Town, CETIS bus station (via Sant Jordi) | AERO2 | Every 30 min | 6:30 and 0:30 | 50 min to CETIS, via the port | €3.50 / €4.90 |
| Ibiza port (express) | AERO3 | Every 30 min | 7:15 and 23:45 | 20 min | €3.50 / €4.90 |
| Santa Eulalia (Santa Eulària), Es Canar and Cala Nova | AERO4 | Hourly | 8:00 and 0:00 | 37 min to Santa Eulalia, 1 h to Cala Nova | €4.00 / €5.60 |
| Playa d'en Bossa (Platja d'en Bossa) and Figueretes | AERO5 | Every 30 min (Mon-Sat) | 8:10 and 0:10 | 27 min to Figueretes | €3.50 / €4.90 |
Fares and timetables as of October 2026, from the operator's website. A few details worth knowing:
- AERO3, the express, only stops at Ibiza port and a couple of stops in the centre. It's the quickest way to reach the Marina or the Formentera ferries. It runs from April to October (hourly in April and in the second half of October); there's no service from November to March.
- AERO5 only runs from 15 May to 15 October. On Sundays and public holidays it's hourly rather than every half hour.
- AERO1 and AERO4 drop off sharply in winter: from November to March they leave roughly every two hours, from about 7:00 to 23:00. In April and October AERO1 runs hourly.
- AERO2 is the most dependable: it runs all year, every half hour, even from November to March.
If you're going somewhere else (Sant Joan, Portinatx, Cala Llonga, Sant Miquel), the usual move is to take AERO2 or AERO3 into Ibiza Town and change there. Everything is in our route-by-route guide to Ibiza buses.
Where to catch the bus and how to pay
The bus stops are right outside the terminal, signposted with the Ibiza public transport logo and each route's name. There are ticket machines at the airport, but you don't need to buy in advance: you can pay as you board.
Ways to pay:
- Contactless bank card on the bus itself: the cheapest fare for a visitor. UK debit and credit cards work fine.
- QR ticket bought on alsaibiza.es or in Alsa's Mobi4U app: same price as paying by card.
- Cash to the driver: roughly 40% more expensive. On the San Antonio route that's €5.60 instead of €4.
- T4 pass: €25 for 96 hours of unlimited travel, issued in your name. Before counting on it for the airport, check on the website that the route is included.
Taxi: the queue, typical fares and supplements
The taxi rank is right outside arrivals. According to Aena, the airport has 69 taxis all year, rising to 139 from June to September. Even so, the queue can be long at peak times on summer Saturdays. Always take a taxi from the official rank and turn down offers from drivers who approach you inside the terminal.
A new fare table, approved by the Consell (the island council) in September, applies from October 2026: €4.35 flag fall, €1.32 per km by day and €1.60 per km at night, on weekend afternoons and on public holidays. Journeys that start or end at the airport carry a €2.15 supplement. The night rate applies from 21:00 to 7:00 on weekdays, from 15:00 on Saturdays and all day on Sundays and public holidays.
Using those fares, these are the approximate prices we've worked out by road distance. The meter has the final say, and a traffic jam or waiting time pushes the bill up.
| From the airport to | Approx. daytime fare | Night or public holiday |
|---|---|---|
| Playa d'en Bossa | €12-16 | €14-18 |
| Ibiza Town (port or Marina) | €17-22 | €19-25 |
| Sant Josep | €20-25 | €23-28 |
| San Antonio | €30-36 | €35-42 |
| Santa Eulalia | €33-38 | €38-44 |
| Cala Comte or Cala Bassa | €36-42 | €42-50 |
| Portinatx or Cala de Sant Vicent | €52-60 | €62-70 |
Prices calculated in October 2026 using the official tariff; the fare is per taxi, not per person. According to Aena, luggage and pets don't carry a supplement. For apps, phone numbers and how to book one, see our guide to taxis in Ibiza.
Private transfers and hire cars
Pre-booked transfer
A private transfer (a driver waiting with a name board) makes sense if you're a big group, if you're arriving with small children and car seats, or if your accommodation is a long way out and you don't want to gamble on the taxi queue. Transfers are run by companies with a VTC (private hire) or private coach licence. Always get a fixed price in writing and check what happens if your flight is delayed.
You can also use Uber, which has operated on the island with VTC vehicles since 2023, although in high season there are few cars and surge pricing kicks in.
Hire car
On floor 0 of the terminal you'll find desks for Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, Europcar, Goldcar-InterRent, OK Mobility, Sicily by Car and Sixt, according to Aena. Other companies hand over cars off-site and take you there by minibus; it's usually cheaper, but in August you can lose half an hour waiting around.
A word of warning about summer: between June and September Ibiza caps the number of cars on the road each day, and the hire car quota (14,000 vehicles a day in 2026) runs out in the busiest weeks. Book early and read the small print on the excess. We explain it all in car and scooter hire in Ibiza, and if you'd rather rent from someone on the island there's also the app's peer-to-peer rental section.
Arriving in the middle of the night
Plenty of summer flights land after midnight. This is what to expect:
- Between 0:00 and 1:30, in season, there are still buses: AERO1 to San Antonio until 1:30, AERO2 to Ibiza Town until 0:30 and AERO4 to Santa Eulalia at midnight.
- From 1:30 to 6:30 there's no airport bus. It's a taxi, a pre-booked transfer or someone picking you up.
- In winter, the last departure is around 23:00 or 23:30, depending on the route.
In the early hours the taxi queue can be short or endless depending on how many flights land together. If your flight gets in very late and you're staying far away, a pre-booked transfer saves a lot of grief. Another option is to look in the app for someone making that trip and share a ride from the airport.
Arriving with big luggage, kids or a board
- Large suitcases: the airport buses take luggage, but in August they can be packed and space runs out fast. With two cases each, a taxi or transfer is more comfortable.
- Children: bring your own car seat if you'll be using taxis or transfers, or request one when booking the transfer. On the bus, children sit like any other passenger.
- Surfboards, kites or bikes: don't count on fitting them on the bus. Book a large taxi or a van transfer.
- Pets: only dogs up to 10 kg in a carrier are allowed on the bus (assistance dogs excepted). In a taxi they travel with no supplement.
- Reduced mobility: the airport has adapted taxis; if none is at the rank, Aena says you can request one from Radio Taxi Sant Josep on +34 971 80 00 80.
Getting back to the airport: how early to leave in August
Aena's general rule is to be at the airport about two hours before a European flight. In Ibiza in July and August, the extra margin should go on the journey, not on the airport:
- From Ibiza Town: AERO3 takes about 20 minutes, but allow 45 in case the bus is full and you have to wait for the next one.
- From San Antonio: AERO1 takes about 50 minutes. Leave at least three hours before your flight.
- From Santa Eulalia: AERO4 runs hourly. Take the one before the one you think you need.
- By taxi: on August Saturday mornings, when arrivals and departures overlap, book your taxi ahead; the radio-taxi company takes bookings for airport runs, subject to availability. On arrival it works the other way: at the terminal you take an official taxi from the rank, and if you want someone waiting with a sign, that's a pre-booked transfer.
Security at the airport gets swamped at summer weekends. If you're travelling with hand luggage only, check in online and head straight to security.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a bus from Ibiza airport to San Antonio?
Yes, route AERO1 links the airport with San Antonio bus station via Sant Josep. In summer it leaves every 30 minutes from 7:00 to 1:30, takes about 50 minutes and costs €4 by card (€5.60 in cash). In winter it runs roughly every two hours.
How much is a taxi from Ibiza airport to Ibiza Town?
With the October 2026 fares, between €17 and €22 by day and between €19 and €25 at night, at weekends or on public holidays, airport supplement included. The price is per taxi, not per person, and depends on your exact drop-off point and the traffic.
Is there a night bus from Ibiza airport?
There are no night routes as such, but in season the airport buses run late: AERO1 until 1:30 and AERO2 until 0:30. Between 1:30 and 6:30 there's no service, so if you land in that window you'll need a taxi or a pre-booked transfer.
How long does it take from the airport to Playa d'en Bossa?
By car or taxi, about 10 minutes without traffic. By bus, AERO5 takes around 15 minutes to the big hotels and 27 to Figueretes. It runs from 15 May to 15 October, every half hour Monday to Saturday and hourly on Sundays.
Can I pay by card on the Ibiza airport bus?
Yes. You can pay by debit or credit card as you board, and it's cheaper than cash: €3.50 or €4 depending on the route, against €4.90 or €5.60 in cash. You can also buy a QR ticket on alsaibiza.es or in the Mobi4U app.
How early should I get to Ibiza airport in summer?
About two hours before a European flight, as Aena recommends, and a bit more if you're checking a bag on an August Saturday. The journey is what usually goes wrong: from San Antonio by bus, leave about three hours before your flight; from Ibiza Town, two and a half hours is fine.
